The Managing Authority for the Interreg NEXT Programme Black Sea Basin was informed in August 2023 about the decision of the European Commission to formally discontinue the Interreg cooperation programmes in which the Russian Federation and Belarus participated, following the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and to redistribute the respective NDICI allocation to the Interreg programmes in which Ukraine and Republic of Moldova participate. As a result, the Programme budget shall receive an additional NDICI allocation of about 20 million Euros. The total Programme financial allocation, thus, reached 94.4 million Euros, out of which 85 million Euros is the contribution from EU funds and 9.4 million Euros is the national co-financing of the participating countries.
The Monitoring Committee (MC) approved the modification of the Programme by including the additional allocation and a new proposed Priority - Competent and resilient region - Interreg Specific Objective 1 - better governance in cooperation matters, together with proposals for related indicative activities.
The Managing Authority has accordingly revised the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme and the Performance Framework Methodology, which are now available for public consultation. Within the revised documents there were taken into account the opinions of the Programme partners expressed during the consultation process held in August 2023, regarding the preferred types of activities under the new Priority.
