On Saturday, May 31, 2025, the Institute of Oceanology – Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IO-BAS), along with the Center for Underwater Archaeology, local diving clubs, and Destination Touristic Services, invites you to take part in a special event at Sozopol Port.

The event is taking place in the context of the project BlackNETs - Exorcising the BLACK Sea's Silent Killers.

What is happening?

• Port Clean-Up: Help clearing trash from the Sozopol Port area and keep the coast beautiful.
• Underwater Adventure: For registered participants, a dive trip to the shallow waters around St. Ivan Island offers the chance to:
  • Join an underwater clean-up
  • Discover rich marine life
  • Explore the fascinating ‘Pioneer’ shipwreck

Whether you are on land or under the sea, there is a role for everyone!

When and where?

Event Schedule – May 31, 2025 (Saturday)

Location: Sozopol Port (fishing boat quay)

08:30 – Meet at the port and register
09:00 – Official opening
09:15 – Port water cleaning begins
11:00 – Refreshments and break
11:30 – Departure to St. Ivan Island (for divers)
14:00 – Estimated return
